✈️ 1. If Your Flight Is Delayed
Under EU Regulation 261/2004 (EC 261)—which applies if you're flying from an EU country or to the EU on an EU-based airline—you may be entitled to:
- Meals and refreshments
- Two free calls, emails, or faxes
- Hotel accommodation (if overnight stay is required)
- Transport between the airport and hotel
- Compensation up to €600 if the delay is 3+ hours and the airline is at fault
For SriLankan Airlines, they may offer:
- Rebooking on the next available flight
- Meal vouchers or hotel stays (depending on delay length)
- Refunds or travel vouchers if you choose not to travel
❌ 2. If Your Flight Is Canceled
You are generally entitled to:
- A full refund or rebooking on an alternative flight
- Compensation (up to €600 under EC 261) if the cancellation is within 14 days of departure and not due to extraordinary circumstances
🧾 3. What You Should Do
- Ask for the reason for the delay or cancellation in writing
- Keep all receipts for meals, transport, or accommodation
- Document everything (boarding pass, booking number, etc.)
- Submit a claim through the airline or a compensation service
