Visit the Viharamahadevi Park Colombo

The Colombo Municipal Council is in charge of maintaining the urban park known as the Viharamahadevi Park. It may be found just in front of the building that houses the Town Hall. Because it was constructed by the British and named for Queen Victoria, the park was originally known as Victoria Park when it first opened.

The Viharamahadevi park formerly served as the location of a cricket field. During the Second World War, both the British Army and the Australian 17th Brigade made use of the park, which contributed to its significance in the conflict. Following the end of World War II, restoration work was carried out on the park, and it reopened to the general public the following year, in 1951.

After some time, it became well-known in the area as the Viharamahadevi Park. At one end of the Viharamahadevi Park lies the Cenotaph War Memorial and the Colombo Public Library, while at the other end is the Viharamahadevi Park Open Air Stadium.

The park is provided with a play area for children, and it also contains the Colombo Public Library. It is the only wide park in Colombo and is a green refuge that a great number of people seek out when the weather is pleasant.

The Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo is the city’s sole large-scale public park, and the Colombo Municipal Council is responsible for its maintenance. Both the Cenotaph War Memorial, Colombo, and the Colombo Public Library may be found near the westernmost tip of the island. The Vihara Maha Devi Park Open Air Stadium plays host to a variety of public events and concerts throughout the year.

The stunning Viharamahadevi Park may be found in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city of Colombo. This stunning park is one of the largest and oldest parks in Sri Lanka, and it is conveniently situated in close proximity to the National Museum.

In addition, the park provides visitors with stunning views of both the dawn and the sunset, making for an experience that is really unforgettable. After having been renamed in honor of King Dutugemunu’s mother, the park that is today known as Viharamahadevi Park was once known as Victoria Park.

The Viharamahadevi Park has undergone recent repairs, which have completely revamped the structure and turned it into a prized possession of the city of Colombo. The splendor of Viharamahadevi Park is brought out by a colossal statue of the Buddha, which is surrounded by a number of water fountains that help to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the park.

In addition, there is a children’s play area and a miniature zoo for visitors to enjoy. A park is a haven for families, as seen by the numerous groups of people enjoying a picnic in the adjacent garden and the many couples who are there to spend valuable time together.

In addition to that, there is a public stadium that hosts a variety of activities and events, including concerts. There are a great number of food vendors in the vicinity that provide a variety of delectable snacks and delicacies.
